London - helpIT systems workshop at the CDM Summit
helpIT systems, a leading provider of data cleansing software, co-sponsored the inaugural Data Strategy Contact Data Management Summit, in association with Experian QAS. The summit focused on leading topics and speakers within the data industry. Attendees discussed Contact Data Management strategies and learned from the successes and failures of others through case study material.
Steve Tootill, CEO of helpIT systems, was one of the expert panel discussing the topics and answering questions. Steve also led a workshop session "Pitfalls and Perils in Planning Data Quality Projects", in which he drew on over 20 years experience of data quality projects to brief attendees on traps for the unwary in planning a data quality project, including:
- the differing demands of users and IT
- lack of awareness of the challenges that disparate data can present
- trying to do too much too quickly
- failing to plan for change
- not getting commitment up front to the deliverables.
Steve illustrated his talk with recent research findings and referenced a few of the more outlandish examples of bad data that he has encountered, and wound up with pointers on how to ensure the success of your project. You can download a copy of Steve's presentation
