Database Management in the Financial Sector
“matchIT aids in reducing overall campaign costs by making sure we only mail or call each company only once. In addition, the product was easy to pick up with little help. ”
Paul Airey, Data Campaign Manager, Bank of Scotland
Established in 1696 and with assets of over £400 billion, Bank of Scotland is a major player in the UK banking industry, specializing in personal and business accounts and credit card services. After merging with several corporate partners, Bank of Scotland’s prospect database swelled to more than two million customer listings. With explosive growth came a challenge: to maintain an accurate, clean database with no duplicate records. The bank could not waste time, money or resources marketing to duplicate names and addresses.
Bank of Scotland’s IT department attempted to craft an in-house solution using various database tools and manual searches, but the results were inadequate. “It was essential to deduplicate single and multiple files using more complex matching techniques,” explains Paul Airey, Bank of Scotland’s Data Campaign Manager.
After examining several options, Bank of Scotland selects matchIT from helpIT systems. matchIT’s sophisticated fuzzy matching gives Bank of Scotland the ability to find duplicate records which were previously impossible to detect.
