GAS
The Gone Away Suppression File (GAS) is supplied by the REaD Group and was established in 1992 to address the problem of mailing people who had genuinely moved house. GAS is used for identifying non‐assumed goneaways and is now responsible for cleaning over half all direct mail in the UK. GAS consists of approximately 58 million records and on average 450,000 – 650,000 new records are added to the file per month.

Re-mover Goneaways

The National Change of Address (NCOA) Update file supplied by the Royal Mail consists of approximately 23 million known movers using forms submitted to request the redirection of their mail since 1995. Using this file helps retain existing customers and make mailing campaigns more cost effective by updating outdated addresses.

Deceased

TBR
The Bereavement Register (TBR) is supplied by the REaD Group and was launched in February 2000 as a service to the consumer to ensure the prompt removal of a deceased’s details from the databases of direct mail companies. TBR consists of approximately 6 million deceased individuals and on average 10,000‐30,000 new records are added to the file per month.

NDR
The National Deceased Register (NDR) is supplied by The Ark and was launched in 2011. An average of 40,000 new deceased records are added to the file each month with records dating back to the year 2000, providing some 4.9 million historic deceased records in total. NDR captured over 90% of all UK deaths in 2015 and includes 30% of records which are unique to the NDR.

Supplied by Millennium Data and contains the name and address details of over 10 million deceased individuals. The Mortascreen file is unique and currently contains the names and address details of nearly 10 million deceased individuals, with around 45,000 new records collected each month.

Preference Service
MPS
Supplied by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), the Mailing Preference Service (MPS) file contains a list of individuals who do not want to receive unsolicited direct mail. Members of the DMA are requested to screen all unsolicited mailings against the MPS file under the DMA code of practice.
TPS
Supplied by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) file contains a list of individuals who do not want to receive unsolicited telephone calls. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so.
CTPS
The Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) is a list of organisations (limited companies, public limited companies and Scottish partnerships) who have registered their wish not to receive unsolicited direct marketing calls. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the CTPS.
